Grover Junior Evans, 86, a resident of Elkins, passed away Monday morning, Aug. 6, 2012. in Louis A. Johnson Veteran's Administration Hospital in Clarksburg.
He was born Oct. 9, 1925, at Horseshoe Run, Preston County, a son of the late Grover Cleveland Evans and the late Ina Mae Watring Evans.
On Oct. 12, 1946, at Red House, Md., he was married to Nada Kitzmiller Evans, who survives in Elkins.
Also surviving are two sons, Larry Evans and wife, Charlene, of Elkins, and Stanley Evans and wife, Roberta, of Beverly. One brother, M.V. Evans of Elkins; one sister, Lela Mullenax of Horseshoe Run, Preston County; grandchildren, Ginger Fox and husband, Eric, Sena Lamarne and husband, Junior, S. Clark Evans and wife, Amber, and Elliott Evans; and great-grandchildren, Samantha Fox and Devan Lamarne, also survive.
Also preceding him in death were one brother, Orville Evans; and four sisters, Geneva Feathers, Joyce Lantz, Mary Hauser and Josephine Roth.
Mr. Evans was a graduate of Aurora High School and a veteran of the United States Navy serving as a radio operator during World War II. In 1980, he opened Evans TV and remained active in the operation of the business for many years. He was a member of Wayside United Methodist Church and H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion.
Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. today at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bobbie Rogers officiating. Interment will follow in American Legion's Little Arlington Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded at the gravesite by members of the United States Navy, H.W Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
