Mr. H. Cecil Stewart, 75, a resident of Belington, departed this life Tuesday evening, Aug. 7, 2012, at his residence. Death was sudden and unexpected.

He was born Dec. 23, 1936, in Barbour County, a son of the late Hoy A. and Goldie E. Reen Stewart.

On April 11, 1958, at Bridgeport, he was united in marriage to the former Julia Ann Charlton, who survives at their home in Belington.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Mark Allen Stewart and wife, Anni Corley, of Philippi, Kirk Cecil Stewart of Berlin Md., and Wayne Douglas Stewart of Belington; two daughters, Sabrina Linn Tenney and husband, Danny, of Belington, and Gina Marie Stewart and husband, Eric Smith, of Westover. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, John Rowan, Brandi Rowan, Anna Farling, Elaina Smith, Greg Tenney, Carmen Corley and Grace Corley; one great-grandchild, Marcus Smith; and one sister, Rosalee Carolyn Stewart of Preston County.

Mr. Stewart was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a 1955 graduate of the Philippi High School. Along with his wife, he was owner and operator of Stewarts Jewelry Store in Belington, from which he retired in 1998. He attended Westside United Methodist Church in Belington, was a charter member of Belington Medical Clinic Board of Directors and was an avid guitar player.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. today from Talbott Funeral Home, 210 Brandenburg St. in Belington, and again on Saturday from 8 until 11 a.m., the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Gina Stewart, Mr. Stewart's daughter, and the Rev. Rose "Jo" McCartney officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery near Philippi where the presentation of the American flag will be accorded by the U.S. Air Force assisted by American Legion Post 96 of Belington.

The family asks that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions be made to the Westside United Methodist Church, River Road, Belington, WV 26250; the Belington Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 922, Belington, WV 26250; or the Belington Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 515, Belington, WV. 26250. Talbott Funeral Home in Belington is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Hoy Cecil Stewart. Condolences can be made to the family at
