Johnnie Dale "Beer" Lantz, 55, of Route 4, Buckhannon, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, in St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born in Upshur County, on April 21, 1957, a son of the late Charles "Pete" Lantz and Anna M. Cornell West, who survives.
Also surviving are his wife, Ann M. Golden Lantz; one stepdaughter, Holly and husband, Noel Rice, of Texas; one stepson, James Lee and wife, Amber Allen, of Iowa; four stepgrandchildren, David Rice, Chelsea Rice, Dylan Allen and Laura Allen; and one stepgreat-grandchild, Preston Allen. Three sisters, Alice and husband, Ted Wolfe, of Buckhannon, Vickie and husband, Paul Gill, of Cross Lanes, and Delila Lantz of Craigsville, also survive. Also surviving are nieces and nephews: Katerena Orsburn, James Wolfe, Jessica Lantz and Jeremy, April, and Jordan Gill; great-niece and great-nephew, Destiny, Keaton and Alexander "Poopie" Orsburn.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, French C. West; one brother, Charles Robert "Bob" Lantz; one niece, B.J. Lantz; and one nephew, Matthew Lantz.
Mr. Lantz was a loving husband and wonderful uncle. He loved to fish and was an avid fan of theWest Virginia University Mountaineers. He was retired from the West Virginia Department of Transportation.
At the request of the deceased, the body will be cremated and no services will be conducted.
