Elkins trips Buckhannon-Upshur

BUCKHANNON?- Elkins defeated Buckhannon-Upshur in a Big 10 Conference dual match Friday at the Elks Country Club.

The Tigers shot a 154 for the day, while the Buccaneers scored 195.

Braden Hammond led the way for Elkins by finishing with a 37. Teammates Alex Baird and Kelsi Trippett both shot 38, while Kollin Hopwood carded a 41.

"Our varsity player performed very well today," Elkins coach Dave Baird said. "They all played up to their potential and hopefully that will continue."

Dalton Crislip led Buckhannon-Upshur with a 43. Stetson West followed with a 47 and Jacob Hinzman shot a 48.

Other scorers for Elkins included, Remmington Knight (46), Brendan Cain (47), Kole Hopwood (51), Joseph Severino (52), Greyson Teets (53), Jared Kerns (55) and Ben Daft (59).

Elkins will return to action on Monday when it plays in the Parkersburg Country Club Invitational.

TUCKER?WINS: The Tucker County High School golf team won a four-team Potomac Valley Conference match Thursday at Canaan Valley resort.

The Mountain Lions captured the victory by shooting a 191 for the day. East Hardy (210), Pocahontas County (216) and Tygarts Valley (226) followed.

Tucker County's Ian Nichols was the low medalist with a 41.

Lucas Bast followed with a 46 for the Mountain Lions, while Eric McCrum and Jonnette Michael each shot 52.

Pocahontas County was led by Cody Sharp's 51.

Casey Martel, Jared Wegman and Jace Kyle all hit 56 to pace the Bulldogs.

Korey Foltz led East Hardy with a 43.

All four teams will return to action for another conference match Monday at Snowshoe.
