Randolph County HOF inducts new members at banquet

The 19th annual Randolph County Hall of Fame banquet was held Saturday at the Gandy Dancer Theatre.

Six individuals and two teams were inducted, which brought the total of individuals to 128 and 28 teams.

The two teams inducted were the 1992 Elkins High?School boys track team and the 2005 Tygarts Valley High?School football team.

Members of the 1992 EHS track team attending the event were Hoy Ferguson, Andy Jones and Jason Martin.

The 2005 Tygarts Valley High School football team members include Jason Tenney, Ryan DeWitt, Derek Fike, Thomas Wratchford, Nick Wamsley, Dillon Lewis, Khris Currence, Seth DeWitt, Tyler Pennington, Zach Pingley, Jesse Bragg, Matt Kidd, Marcus Haney, Anthony Chandler, Tim Tenney, Bob Fox, Jay Shrader, Doug Shiflett, Tim Daniels, Lukas Coussoule, Philip Engelkemier, Keith Currence, Nathan Yokum, Travis Hammonds, Harlan Pealer, William Chandler and Craig Daniels.

The head coach was Russ Collett and assisted by Kenny Pingley, Jimmy Hutzel and Adam Smith.

The Bulldogs finished 8-2 and advanced to the Class A, State playoff semi-final game losing to Wheeling Central.

The six individuals inducted were David Harvey, Erika Thompson, Fonso Stalnaker, Zaia Wharton, Tommy Lopez and Larry Pnakovich.

Thompson was an Elkins High graduate and ran cross country and participated in swimming.

Lopez played football while he was at Tygarts Valley High?School.

Stalnaker, who was an Elkins High graduate, played football, basketball and track.

Wharton ran cross country and track at Elkins High School and she moved on to run track at Division 1 level American University.

Pnakovich played three-years of basketball at Tygarts Valley.

David Harvey was a three-year basketball standout at Coalton High School.

The Coalton mascot was also inducted into the Hall of Fame.
