Colts, Yellow Jackets earn wins

Tigers take 15th place at Parkersburg Invitational

CLARKSBURG - Philip Barbour's Logan Collins fired a 5-over par 41 Monday at the Sunny Croft Country Club to earn medalist honors, leading his Colts to a 131-173 victory over Liberty in a Big 10 Conference golf match.

Luke Freeman fired a 43 and Tyler Clifton shot 47 to figure into the scoring. Others competing for the Colts were Caleb Hawkins, 49; Trace Furbee, 54; and Zach Howdershell, 63.

Liberty was led by Ty Wickline, who carded a 50, followed by Chase Morris, 56; and Brooke Colby, 67.

Philip Barbour returns to the golf course Thursday, hosting Grafton at the Barbour Country Club.

EHS?FINISHES?15TH: The Elkins High School golf team placed 15th at the Parkersburg High School Invitational Monday at the Parkersburg Country Club.

George Washington won the match with a 228. University (230), Marietta (231), Roane County (231) and Charleston Catholic (238) followed.

Braden Hammon, who finished in a tie for 31st place with an 82, paced the Tigers.

Elkins' Kollin Hopwood (84), Alex Baird (88) and Kelsi Trippett (97) rounded out the scoring for Elkins.

Elkins travels to Buckhannon-Upshur on Wednesday.

TC, TV?COMPETE: The Tucker County High School golf team placed second in a five-team match Monday at The Raven golf course at Snowshoe.

Moorefield won the match with a 389. Tucker County followed with a 402 and Pocahontas County scored 430. Tygarts Valley (443) and East Hardy (470) rounded out the field.

Moorefield's Quincy Fraley shot a 83 to earn medalist honors.

Tucker County was led by Brandon Carr's 97. Lucas Bast and Ian Nichols each followed with 100.

Stephen Mick shot a 99 to lead Pocahontas County.

Jared Wegman lead Tygarts Valley with a 105.

Alex Hinzman scored a 109 and Paige Pritt had a 113 for the Bulldogs.

Korey Foltz followed Fraley for Moorefield with a 97.

Tygarts Valley and Tucker County will both return to action on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs will travel to Trinity, while the Mountain Lions visit Moorefield.
