Mary Josephine Bonnell, 89, of Big Pine Key, Fla., died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, in Lower Keys Medical Center in Key West, Fla.
She was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Barbour County, a daughter of the late Ira and Murell Smallridge Moore.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles T. Champ Sr., and her second husband, Jennings Bonnell; one brother, Morris Moore; and one stepgrandson, Charles Gregory Bonnell. She is survived by two sons, Charles Theodore Champ Jr. of Big Pine Key, Fla., and Thomas Lowell Champ of Baton Rouge, La.; two grandsons, Charles Theodore Champ III and Christopher Timothy Champ, both of Buckhannon; one granddaughter, Cheryl Terrina Queen of Pittsburgh, Pa; several great-grandchildren; stepson, Charles E. Bonnell and wife, Sue, of Baconton, Ga,; stepgrandson, the Rev. R. Scott Bonnell and wife, Lisa, of Tallahassee, Fla.; one stepgreat-granddaughter, Cheryl Denise Weaver and husband, Benjamin, of Baconton, Ga.; and one sister, Lucy Louise Norman of Philippi.
Mrs. Bonnell was a Baptist by faith. She was part owner in a glass factory in the Keys, a clerk and a homemaker.
Friends will be received at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home today from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Joseph Shreve. Entombment will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens at Quiet Dell.
