August 24, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

Ronald McDonald House Charities and local food vendors are working together to present the first Backyard wings, brews and BBQ cookoff.

The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at Mylan Park. The cost to attend is $5 per carload and vendors will offer up their best $1 sampler. The event also will feature numerous craft vendors, live music, a car show and activities for children.

Jeff Hostetler, NFL Super Bowl winning quarterback, and Don Nehlen, legendary WVU football coach and college football hall of famer, will attend and sign autographs.

Entertainment for the day will include a number of bands, including Junior Pez; Shane Meade & the Sound; 3 Nuts and a Woody; and Higher Ground. Beer distributers such as Budweiser, Morgantown Brewing Co. and Jo's Globe will be there as well.

A panel of five judges will decide the best in the competition of wings, brews and barbecue. There also will be a people's choice in all three categories.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Morgantown provides a "home away from home" without the financial burden of a hotel for parents of critically ill children.
