The Frank B. Bartlett Post No. 7 of the the American Legion in Buckhannon has announced a variety of upcoming events and holidays.
The month of September 2012 will include the following patriotic holidays:
Sept. 11, 2012 - Patriots Day As a free people, we must never forget that the innocent victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America did not die in vain.

Three community proclamations are presented in the council chambers of City Hall in Buckhannon this week. Behind Kenneth T. Davidson, mayor of Buckhannon, are American Legion representatives from Post No. 7, including Kevin Light, post chaplain; Mary Albaugh, post adjutant; and Robert Post, chairman of Post Americanism Committee.
Sept. 16, 2012 - 93rd anniversary of The American Legion. The American Legion founders gathered in Paris just a few months after the end of World War I. They did not form the organization out of self-interest. They did it to serve their comrades, their communities and their country.
Sept. 21, 2012 - POW/MIA Recognition Day. A day designated by Congress to honor and remember all prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action who have served with the armed forces of the United States of America.
Mayor Kenny Davidson of the City of Buckhannon presented "Community Proclamations" for each of these upcoming patriotic holidays at the request of the Frank B. Bartlett Post #7 The American Legion of Buckhannon.
The American Legion Post No. 7 will host an open house from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 14 during the hours in the McCue Room at 16 S. Kanawha St. A light lunch will be provided. A special program at noon will include Dr. Michael George.
