Eileen Hinkle Arbogast, 91, a former resident of Nashville, Tenn., and since 1990, a resident of Elkins, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at her home. She was born Sunday, April 24, 1921, at Hambleton, a daughter of the late Snoden Scott and Margaret Dumire Hinkle.
During 1950, she was married to Dr. James Clinton Arbogast, who preceded her in death Jan. 19, 1999.
Surviving are one daughter, Judith Ellen Jones of Elkins; one brother, Robert Hinkle of Crystal Springs; two grandchildren, Sara Wallace of Wilmington, N.C,. and Jason Russell Jones of Newnan, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Christian Jones Wallace, Harrison Jones Wallace, Mary Charles Jones, Maggie Elizabeth Jones and Lillian Ellen Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were one brother, Kenneth Hinkle; and four sisters, Alice Weese, Elizabeth Stalnaker, Genevieve Faircloth and Edyth Furman.
She attended the schools of Randolph County. She began her career in retail work in Elkins. She especially enjoyed working as the buyer for the millinery department at Watt-Sarder-Lear Store and retired many years later as the manager of her husband's chiropractic office in Nashville, Tenn. Prior to living in Nashville, she and her husband resided in Mississippi, where she enjoyed singing in her church choir, attending Bible studies and hosting the Mississippi Auxiliary Chiropractic Association. After moving to Nashville, she was involved with the backyard Child Evangelism Clubs.
In 1990, she and her husband returned to Elkins, where she re-established her membership at First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed line dancing, nature, gardening, knitting, rug hooking, homemaking and was a noted decorator.
She had a servant's heart for those in need and had respect and love for all her family.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins on Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Wednesday, Sept. 5, at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Dr. Basil A. Hensley and the Rev. Barry R. Moll will officiate, and interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery at Elkins.
