PHILIPPI - Alderson-Broaddus fell to No. 6 California (Pa.) Thursday in women's soccer action.
Kayla Fransko, Chelsea Crockett and Bethany Smyda all had goals for California, while Erin Hogan had an assists.
The Lady Vulcans held a 2-0 lead at halftime.
California (1-0) outshot the Lady Battlers 15-8 in the contest. Both teams had three corner kicks apiece.
Ashley Magruda had six keeper saves for california.
Katie Laird had three stops for the Lady Battlers.
Alderson-Broaddus will visit Clarion University on Saturday at 1 p.m.

PHILIPPI - Buckhannon-Upshur came out victorious Thursday afternoon in high school golf action at the Barbour County Country Club.
The Bucs of head coach Chris Gow won the tri-match with a score of 161, defeating Fairmont Senior (163) and the host-team Philip Barbour (178).
Dalton Crislip led the Bucs, tying for the individual title with Fairmont Senior's Sterling Fitzwater with a score of 37.
Buckhannon produced a tight pack on the leaderboard, as the next three Buc players were separated by a mere three strokes.
Dalton Westfall fired a 40, Jacob Hinzman a 41 and Stetson West a 43. Nathan Gall added a 47 and Blake Williams a 66.
Fitzwater was complemented by teammate Nick Sinclair, who carded a 40.
Philip Barbour received solid rounds from Luke Freeman and Logan Collins who each shot 41.
