Members of Shaffer, a band based in Belington, are excited to release the group’s sixth CD, ‘Grateful.’

The band members have been performing professionally since 2000, garnering national attention and opening for such artists as Sugarland, Jason Crabb, the Hoppers and 4Him.

"'Grateful' is a project intended to affect all ages," lead vocalist Cassie Shaffer-Hymes said. "We really feel like this project identifies who we are as artists."

"Grateful" contains 10 songs, including "You Are My God" co-written by Shaffer-Hymes, and it is designed to appeal to fans of Rascal Flatts, Keith Urban, the Crabb Family, 33 Miles and Martina McBride. It was produced by acclaimed producer and industry veteran Terry Thompson and was recorded at The Terry T Room and TMC Studios, Hendersonville, Tenn.

"This is a collection of songs of everyday life, encouragement, hope and praise," Shaffer-Hymes said.

The title track of the project, "Grateful," is a very personal statement by the band.

"In life, there are so many ups and downs, it's easy to get distracted by the negative things," she said. "Instead, we believe it's so important to stay focused on everything we have to be thankful for. 'Grateful' is an attitude, a lifestyle, and it's one we try to live out day to day.

"We are excited for people to hear this new project. From song selection, to musicians, to the final product, we believe it is our best one yet and are thrilled at the opportunity to be able to take what we believe is a huge step forward for us as a band," Shaffer-Hymes said. "It is our prayer that through this new project, others will have their own belief strengthened."
