Earl A. Sage

Earl A. Sage, 71, of Mechanicsville, Md., died Aug. 15, 2012, in Hospice House of St. Mary's in Callaway, Md.

Mr. Sage was born June 6, 1941, at Blue Springs. He was the son of the late Glen A. Sage and Lou E. Heavener Sage of Monterville.

Mr. Sage retired from C&P Telephone Co., where he worked as a central office technician.

He enjoyed boating, camping and loved to water ski in younger years. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed fishing the rivers throughout his hometown of Monterville, Bemis and Elkins. He served as former president of BEMANCO, Golden Beach, Md. He was a member of Mechanicsville Moose Lodge 495 and the "River Rats" (you know who you are) of Golden Beach, Md.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carolyn S. (Strawder) Sage of Mechanicsville, Md.; and his beloved dog, Lily; son, Michael Todd Sage of Mechanicsville, Md.; son, Darren Scott Sage (Lori) of Bryantown, Md.; daughter, Joni Lynn Smith (Tony) of King George, Va.; and Stephen E. Fringo of Mechanicsville, Md. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler G. Sage (April) of Mechanicsville, Md., Garrett S. Sage of Bryantown, Md., Ryan Myers of Bryantown, Md., Amber Sage Smith of King George, Va., Scottie Renee' Sage of Bryantown, Md.; and great-grandson, Braylen Earl Sage of Mechanicsville, Md. In addition, he is survived by one brother, Ronald L. Sage (Nancy) of Leesburg, Va.; niece, Kimberly Hoke (Kevin) of Winchester, Va.; great-niece, Kaelin S. Soto of Winchester, Va.; great-nephew, Carlos R. Soto of Winchester, Va.; and several aunts and cousins.

A memorial gathering and service were conducted Aug. 20 at Brinsfield-Echols Funeral Home in Charlotte Hall, Md. Inurnment will be at a later date.
