Homecoming celebration set at St. Bernard

September 8, 2012
The Inter-Mountain

A day of celebration is planned Sunday with Mass at St. Bernard's Church in Loveberry. The annual homecoming will feature a pig roast and covered-dish dinner.

The Mass, set for 2 p.m., will be led by the Rev. Steve Vallelonga, pastor of St. Patrick Church in Weston. All are invited to the liturgy and dinner. Those attending are asked to bring lawn chairs, old photos and memorabilia.

St. Bernard's was established as a parish in 1884. The original church building was started in 1863, with construction delayed during the Civil War. It is assumed that the structure was finished in 1864. About 400 people were registered there.
