On Sept. 16, Hospice Care Corp. will host its 24th annual Dr. D.R. Davis Golf Classic at Preston County Country Club to benefit hospice patient care for those with terminal illnesses.
Golfers are wanted to play, have fun and make a difference in the lives of their neighbors and friends who are seriously ill. Individuals and teams are encouraged to play for a cost of $60 per player or $240 per team. Registration includes 18 holes of golf and cart, lunch, goodie bags, prizes and refreshments. This will be a shotgun scramble, with two tee times at 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. There will be eligibility to win prizes for the top three place teams, closest to the pin, longest drive and a hole in one at designated tees.
Hospice Care Corp. is an "open access" hospice, which means it accepts expensive complicated diagnoses and patients without insurance, which many "for profit" hospices will not. Health care costs for services continue to rise; however, the level of care for patients remains high. The hospice agency needs help to raise funds for patient care at home and in its new Inpatient Center. In order to pay for services, Hospice Care relies on this tournament to offset costs.
There are still a variety of sponsorships opportunities available for local businesses and supporters including donating prizes for the challenges, door prizes and goodie bag gifts.
