Madeline Alkire Craig, 93, of Mims, passed away on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011.
She was born in Buckhannon, in Upshur County, the daughter of Sherman and Lillie Zickefoose.
Madeline was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Mims United Methodist Church, and Past President of United Methodist Women. She loved to travel and enjoyed her Bridge Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one sister. Madeline was married to Sergeant Troy Alkire of the West Virginia State Police, who preceded her in death in 1944.
They had two children, son, James Troy II; and daughter, Bonnie Kay Forstall, who passed away in 2001.
After being a single mother for 15 years, Madeline married Willis Craig, who preceded her in death in 1986.
Also surviving, in addition to her son Jim and his wife Jennifer, of Maurertown, Va., are five grandchildren, Todd Alkire of Atlanta, Ga., Kimberly Kerns of Winchester, Va., Chad Alkire of Maurertown, Va., Tracy Fatta and Terry Forstall, both of Slidell, La.; son-in-law, Lenny Forstall of Slidell, La.; six great grandchildren, Taylor, Corey, and Conner Alkire, Courtney Kerns, Cayden Alkire and Gabe Fatta.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at the Heavner Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Joseph Shreve officiating and Chapter 18 Order of Eastern Star conducting a memorial service.
