Williamstown swept both divisions at the Doddridge County Cross Country Invitational on Tuesday.
Buckhannon-Upshur's girls, who placed third for the top local finish in the competition, were led by Laura Dean's eighth-place finish (23:02).
The Lady Bucs finished with a team score of 136.
Philip Barbour ran an abbreviated team in the race, but Allison Villers placed fifth with a time of 22:32. St. Mary's star Maggie Drazba ran away with the individual title, posting a time of 20:34 .
On the boys' side, Buckhannon-Upshur placed ninth with 220 points, while Philip Barbour finished 10th (227).
Tyler Baldwin led the Colts with a 20th place finish (20:06). Chad Christenson paced the Bucs in 41st place.
B-U and Philip Barbour will both compete in the Mountain State Forest Festival Invitational Saturday on the Davis & Elkins College campus.
Middle School
Elkins Middle School and Buckhannon-Upshur both participated in the 11-team Doddridge County Invitational on Tuesday.
Several local runners produced strong finishes on the tough 3,000-meter layout in West Union.
Elkins' boys placed fifth for the highest local finish. The Hornets placed two runners in the top 20 as Dalton Hamrick placed ninth (11:56) and Mason Clark 15th (12:23).
Buckhannon-Upshur closed the day in ninth place and was led by Brian Kaubsich's 42nd place finish. On the girls' side Buckhannon-Upshur placed seventh as a team, while Elkins finished in 10th place. Kelsey Burgess led the Lady Bucs with a strong seventh place finish, covering the course in 12:54. There were 132 female finishers.
Kaci Zopp led Elkins, placing 33rd with a time of 14:02.
