Mr. Arlie Charles "Junie" Simmons Jr., 66, a resident of Chestnut Flats Road near Belington, departed this life at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, in Hospice Care Inpatient Unit at Elkins, following a short illness.
He was born Sept. 20, 1946, at Circleville, a son of the late Arlie Charles Simmons Sr. and the late Pheobie Elizabeth Armstrong Simmons.
He had never married.
Surviving are three sisters, Janet Cox and husband, Albert, of Quincy Fla., Abigail E. Horner of Joppa, Md., and Sandra Boehlein, of Joppa, Ma.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Victor Lee Simmons; and his uncle and aunt, Russell and Ethel Propst, who raised him from a young age.
Arlie was a former employee and manager of the Babcock Lumber Co. in Belington and also was owner and operator of Arlie Simmons Enterprise which included his sawmill and his farm. Arlie considered himself an avid farmer and cattle rancher. He had served on the Barbour County Fair Board, and was Protestant by faith.
Friends will be received from Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 10 to 11 a.m. today. Final rites will then be conducted at 11 a. today from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Eugene Helmick officiating. A committal service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in Blue Grass Cemetery at Blue Grass, Va. Interment will follow.
