The Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce is once again combining efforts with the Randolph County Development Authority, Elkins ON TRAC and the Randolph County business community to generate interest among individuals who would like to pursue business entrepreneurship with the second Building Blocks for Business Kickoff Seminar.
"We're excited to be able to have the Building Blocks Series again after a successful first run," said Executive Director Kate Reed. "Out of the initial series, three new businesses were started in the Randolph County area, and we hope to continue to promote new business and economic growth along with partnering organizations Elkins ON TRAC and the Randolph County Development Authority."
A daylong seminar will be hosted at the Randolph County Development Authority, covering topics such as "Developing and Executing a Business Plan," "How to Finance a New Business" and "Resources for Getting Started."
The featured speaker will be Carol Carter, department chair for Business Administration, Economics, Hospitality & Tourism Management at Davis & Elkins College.
A roundtable discussion will take place in the afternoon, allowing an open flow of questions and answers between future entrepreneurs and area businesses. Other local individuals and businesses participating in the seminar are scheduled to include Mark Scott, Allstate Insurance, Christy Tribble, CPA, Professional Accounting Services, Hoy Ferguson, Davis Trust Co., Sara Maze, Good Energy Foods, John Lynch, Propst Realty and Marti Neustadt, Woodlands Development Group.
The seminar will start at 8:30 a.m. Sept. 26, at the Randolph County Development Authority at 10 Eleventh St. in Elkins. It will end at 3:30 p.m.
