Gene Edward Tumblin, 81, of Valley Head, passed from this life, Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at his residence.
He was born Wednesday, June 10, 1931, at Slatyfork, a son of the late John Tumblin and Mattie Sage Tumblin.
He is survived by four children, Jeff Tumblin and wife, Marcia, of Valley Head, John Tumblin of Augusta, Ga., Kevin Tumblin of Valley Head, and Shannon Mezza and husband, Mike, of Atlanta, Ga., seven grandchildren, John, Aaron, Jillian, Caitlyn, Samantha, Tyler, and Ginda, two sisters, Judy Jones and husband, Jimmy, of Valley Head and Jewell Walls and husband, Merritt, of Morgantown.
Gene's only brother, John Wayne Tumblin, passed away Sept. 16, 2012.
Gene was a graduate of the Tygart Valley High School with the class of 1950. He served with the United States Air Force where he retired as a Staff Sergeant. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, and fishing, but he may have been best known for driving his truck around the community and stopping to talk with his many friends.
Mr. Tumblin's request for cremation will be honored. A memorial service will be held at the Mingo Cemetery on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. where members of the H.W. Daniels Post No. 29, American Legion will present the American Flag in honor of his many years of service.
The Randolph Funeral Home and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements for Gene Edward Tumblin.
