Lorraine Moran of Elkins celebrated her 89th birthday week touring the Biltmore house, winery and gardens in Asheville, N.C., and Pigeon Forge. Tenn.
Highlights in Pigeon Forge included her birthday dinner at Dolly's Dixie Stampede, driving and hiking in Cades Cove and three days enjoying activities and shows at Dollywood.
Celebrating with Mrs. Moran were Linda Collins of Lakeland, Fla.; Vera and son, John Robert Hammond, of Fayetteville, N.C.; Tim and Carole Surgent of Wall, N.J.; Cindy Kuhl and daughters, Tori and Lexi, of Wooster, Ohio; and Greta and Kenna Kuhl of Canal Fulton, Ohio.
Mrs. Moran was born July 10, 1923, in Upshur County, to William and Lavinia Poling.
On June 13, 1943, she married John H. Moran Jr., who died in 1956.
Mrs. Moran is a former Randolph County Belle and is a member of Nay's Chapel United Methodist Church near Buckhannon, Randolph County Community Education Outreach Society at large, Rebekah Lodge 98, a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary 3674, The '23ers and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Mrs. Moran enjoys sewing, weaving baskets and chair bottoms, reading, walking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
