Six delegates represented the Upshur County Association of Retired School Employees at the annual council of the West Virginia Association of Retired School Employees Sept. 5 and Sept. 6 in Flatwoods at the Days Hotel. State President John Riddle presented the unit with a gold Award of Merit certificate. This is the highest honor a local unit can earn. It represents fulfilling the objectives set by the association in its purpose to promote the economic, social, and professional status of retired school employees. In addition, the local unit was recognized for having the highest percentage of current retirees among its membership ranks. Shown here, from left, are Sam Biller, Mary Ellen Biller, Charlotte Eskew, Nancy Davidson, Jerilynn Thorn and Sandy Bennett.
