Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has announced the appointment of Joseph Daniel "Dan" Bucher to the West Virginia Nursing Home Administrators Licensing Board.
Bucher, of Harman, is the special projects coordinator for Davis Health System. Previously, he was the administrator of Cortland Acres Nursing Home in Thomas, and he also served as the assistant and interim administrator at the former Elkins Regional Convalescent Center in Elkins.
"We are pleased with Mr. Bucher's appointment, as his experience and wisdom will bring additional strength to assist in meeting the mission of the West Virginia Nursing Home Administrators Licensing Board with the primary purpose grounded on federal and state law to protect the public good by developing and enforcing regulations to govern the practice of nursing home administration in West Virginia," said Tammy Jo Painter, chair of the WVNHALB.
The board is responsible for administrator candidate eligibility; overseeing policy, regulations and standards; and the investigation of complaints and disciplinary action against administrators.
This will be Bucher's second term on the board. He first was appointed by Gov. Cecil Underwood to serve from 1999 to 2005.
