TENNERTON - Buckhannon-Upshur's girls continued their mid-season domination Tuesday night, rolling to a 9-1 victory over visiting Preston. The Lady Bucs of head coach Tom Hasbrouck have now outscored their opponents a whopping 88-7 in the season's 13 matches.
"In the first half, I felt we looked a lot like a team that hadn't played in a week," Hasbrouck said. "But once we got it going and got our timing back, I felt like we were very dominant."
Hannah Stankus and Emily Godwin each scored three goals to lead the B-U offense, as the Lady Bucs raced to a 4-1 halftime lead, and pounded home five more goals in the second half. Taylor Starkey, Lindsey Beets, and Hannah Williams all scored single goals to round out the scoring.
Several Lady Bucs contributed in the assist column. Stankus, Beets and Jessica Feronti all tallied two assists, with Starkey, Haley Ware and Brooklyn Waddell all added single assists.
Buckhannon-Upshur improves its season record to 12-1 and will travel to North Marion on Thursday for a Big 10 Conference matchup at 5:30 p.m.
North?Marion 1, Elkins 1
The Elkins High?School girls soccer team tied North?Marion 1-1 Tuesday Big 10 Conference action at EHS.
Hailea Harper had the goal for the Lady Tigers (4-7-2).
Elkins outshot the Lady Huskies 9-7 in the contest, while North Marion held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks.
"I thought we played very well today," Elkins coach Scott Cutright said. "Our passing was a lot better as well."
Charlie George had six keeper saves in goal for Elkins.
Elkins visits Liberty (Harrison) on Thursday for a Big Conference matchup starting at 5:30 p.m.
