Laura Elizabeth Brown of Buckhannon has been chosen as a princess in the 76th Mountain State Forest Festival by Delegate Bill Hamilton, R-Upshur.
Brown is the daughter of Clifford and June Brown of Buckhannon. She is the granddaughter of David and the late Wendy Brown of WestField, Pa., and the late Frank and Algie Bailey of State College, Pa. Brown has one sister, Amanda Brown, and two chocolate labs, Bella Grace and Emma.
She graduated cum laude in 2007 from Buckhannon-Upshur High School, and was a member of the National Honor Society. Over the years, Brown volunteered for the state's celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day. She was a B-UHS Tennis Team member for two years, served as a page for the state House of Delegates and is a member of the Young Republicans.
She graduated from Fairmont State University in 2011 with a major in business administration. Her concentration was in hospitality management, with a minor in pastry and baking. She graduated cum laude, was a PROMISE Scholar, was Outstanding Student in Food Service, Operations-Pastry and Baking for Spring 2010 and made the dean's and president's list multiple semesters. Besides having a full-time job at Jenkins Ford in Buckhannon as marketing representative, she enjoys hunting, fishing, riding 4-wheelers, spending time outdoors and making professional cakes and desserts for family and friends.
Brown will join other princesses and members of the royal court Oct. 5 at Davis & Elkins College. More information is available by visiting www.forestfestival.com.
