Mary Virginia "Gin" Helmick Bosworth, 98, a resident of Chenoweth Creek Road, Elkins and most recently of Valentine's Personal Care Home, passed away at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, in Hospice Care Regional Inpatient Center.
She was born May 8, 1914, at Beverly, a daughter of the late Morgan and Arthelia Kerns Helmick.
On Oct. 2, 1936, she was married to John Robert Bosworth, who preceded her in death.
Surviving are two daughters, Joan Thompson and husband, Franklin, of Mechanicsville, Md., and Wini Fink of Elkins; five grandchildren, Anita Marie Michaels of Clinton, Md., Denise Lynette Long and husband, Robert, of Moorefield, Carrie Lee Fink of Charlotte, N.C., Johnnie Sue Bennett and husband. Phillip. of Charlotte, N.C., and Robert Bosworth Fink of Fairmont. Two great-grandchildren, Caleb McKenzie and Cara Jo Long, of Moorefield also survive.
Also preceding her in death were one son, Newton Carroll Bosworth; two brothers, Woodrow Helmick and Morgan Helmick Jr.; and five sisters, Louise Helmick, Wilda Mae Westfall, Madeline Campbell, Macil Burd and Helen Caplinger.
Mrs. Bosworth was a graduate of Beverly High School with the class of 1933. She was a member of John Hart Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and a member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church. She was a homemaker who loved cooking, canning and gardening.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday from the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Peter A. Vial officiating. Interment will follow in Elkins Memorial Gardens on the Country Club Road near Elkins.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Food Fund, in care of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church, 450 S. Randolph Ave., Elkins, WV 26241, in memory of Mrs. Bosworth.
