B-UHS graduate becomes royalty

Director General Mike Karlen has chosen Meghan Lynn Lough as a princess in the 76th Mountain State Forest Festival.

Lough is the daughter of Philip and Vicky Lough of Buckhannon. She is the granddaughter of Joyce and Phil Phillips of Buckhannon and Karen Lough of Elyria, Ohio. She has one sister, Madison Lough.

Lough graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in 2010 and is presently attending West Virginia University in Morgantown. She plans to obtain a master's and PHD in History at WVU and teach at a university.

She is a member of the WVU Italian Studies Club, the Phi Alpha Theta History Honorary and the Phi Sigma Theta National Honorary. She was the West Virginia Golden Horseshoe Award winner in 2006 and the WVU Eberly College Certificate of Achievement winner in 2012. Lough was the B-UHS drum major from 2009 to 2010. Her hobbies include baking, history and traveling.

Lough will join other princesses and members of the royal court during the coronation ceremony Friday on the campus of Davis & Elkins College.
