Howard Warren Goheen II, 69, a resident of Norton, departed this life Saturday morning, Sept. 22, 2012, at his home following a short illness; however death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Tuesday, Jan. 19, 1943, at Washington, D.C., a son of the late Howard Warren Goheen Sr., and Faith Hamilton Goheen.
On Jan. 27, 1979, at Elkins, he was married to the former Pamela Lee Olcott, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Andre Goheen and wife, Mandy, of Maxwell Air Force Base Montgomery, Ala., Graham S. Goheen of Morgantown; one brother, R. Craig Goheen and wife, Louise, of Raleigh, N.C.; one sister, Rhoda Huddleston and husband, James, of Raleigh, N.C.; and six grandchildren Josh, Oscar, Indee, Isaiah, Leo and Sadie. all of Montgomery, Ala.
He attended Virginia Tech at Blacksburg, Va., and during that time, he joined the United States Air Force in 1966 serving until 1970. He worked as a contractor for many years and was a real estate appraiser. At the time of his death, he along with his family, was owner and operator of Phoenix Appraisal Service of Elkins. In 1998, he was a real estate appraiser. Howard was an avid sports fan and coached various little league baseball, soccer and basketball teams, he was an avid gardener and was a farmer at heart.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at which time a memorial service will be conducted with the Rev. Dr. Marvin L. Parli as the presider. A dinner will follow the service at First Baptist Church in Elkins.
