James Boyd Simons, 87, of Buckhannon, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, in Holbrook's Nursing Home in Buckhannon.
He was born Oct. 18, 1924, at Alton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Brenice Gould Simons; and three brothers, Clarence, Willie and George Simons.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Smith Simons, whom he married Sept. 7, 1954; his daughter, Brenice Sue Tharp and husband, Steven, of Buckhannon; two grandsons, Dakota Tharp and Nathaniel Russell; sister, Gladys Godfrey of Sago; and two brothers, Seymour Simons and Arthur Simons, both of Buckhannon.
Mr. Simons retired as a custodian from West Virginia Wesleyan College. He was a member of AARP.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Tomblyn Whitescarver Funeral Chapel, where services will begin at 1 p.m. with Pastor Jimmie Russell officiating. Burial will follow in Indian Camp Cemetery.
