Linda Sue Smith Wamsley, 63, a resident of the Back Road, Mill Creek, went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012, in Monongalia General Hospital at Morgantown. She had been in declining health for the past five months.
She was born Thursday, Jan. 20, 1949, at Mabie, a daughter of the late Woodrow Calvin and Mable Sneed Smith.
On Nov. 15, 1965, she was married to Bobby Wamsley, who survives. They had celebrated 46 years of marriage.
Also surviving are five children, Steven Lynn Wamsley and wife, Rebecca, of Valley Bend, Robert Allen Wamsley of Dailey, Cynthia Lee Wamsley and fiance, Michael Gibson, of East Dailey, Christine Elaine Shrader and husband, Mitch, of Valley Bend and Celeste Kay Wamsley of Mill Creek; three brothers, Woodrow Calvin Smith and wife, Wanda, of Valley Head, Edgar Alan Smith of Pennsylvania, and David Smith of Mill Creek; two sisters, Erma Smarr and husband, Delmas, of North Carolina, and Edith Kerr and husband, Jack, of Pennsylvania; one brother-in-law, Roger Wamsley; four sisters-in-law, Sandra Haden, Betty Pritt, Linda Toni Croston and Sherry Sprinkle; and nine grandchildren, Paul, Kyle, Mykayla, Amber, Clarissa, Jarit and Anlyne; and two step-grandsons, Hunter and Devon.
Preceding her in death were two sisters, Wanda and Penny; and one son-in-law, Curtis Howard.
She attended Valley Head Elementary, Moon Township, Pa., and Ambridge Junior High School, had worked for the housekeeping department at Silver Creek Resort, Colonial Place, Dr. Skinner's office and Davis Memorial Hospital for many years.
Linda loved the outdoors, going up to Cheat Mountain and walking through the woods. She enjoyed having cookouts in her backyard, where she took great pride in her flowers and the pond with a waterfall, where she spent time with her family. She was a member of Tygarts Valley Baptist Church at Beverly.
The family will receive friends at Lohr & Barb Funeral Home of Elkins from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. Final rites will be conducted at the funeral home chapel Sunday, Oct. 7, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Mike House and the Rev. Tristan Tenney will officiate, and interment will follow in the Brick Church Cemetery at Huttonsville.
