D&E volleyball team falls; Elkins spikers drop road tilt at BHS

The Davis & Elkins College volleyball fell to Ohio Valley University 3-2 Wednesday in West Virginia Conference action at the McDonell Center.

The Lady Senators (1-11, 0-3 WVIAC) lost the first two games of the match, 25-21 and 26-22.

After winning the next two sets 25-10 and 25-17, D&E dropped a 15-12 decision in the finale.

Haylee Murray had 54 set assists and 12 digs for the Lady Senators, while Nicole Miller had 36 attacks, 12 kills and 17 digs

Davis & Elkins will travel to Bluefield State on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest.

Prep Volleyball

Bridgeport 3, Elkins 0

BRIDGEPORT - The Elkins High School volleyball team lost to Bridgeport 3-0 Wednesday in Big 10 Conference action.

The Lady Tigers (4-6) fell in straight sets, 25-12, 25-20 and 25-15.

Elkins (2-8) lost the junior varsity contest 25-15 and 25-16.

"We played better than we did Tuesday at Lincoln," Elkins coach Penny Crawford said. "We just need to continue to improve during the second half on the season."

Elkins will visit rival Buckhannon-Upshur Tuesday for a 7 p.m. match.
