Tucker graduate becomes royalty

Leslie Combs Barton has been chosen as a princess in the 76th Mountain State Forest Festival by Director General Mike Karlen.

Barton is the daughter of Bradley and LuAnn Combs Barton of Hambleton. She is the granddaughter of Glen and the late Dorothy Barton of Elkins and the late Robert "Fred" and Lenora Armstrong Combs of Hambleton.

Barton graduated from Tucker County High School with honors with the class of 2010. She was an active participant in the MAKOI program, where she served as a mentor to young children. She also was a member of Health Occupations Students of America. She was awarded the Highland Scholarship and is a sophomore attending Davis & Elkins College. She is studying social sciences, and once she graduates, she plans to pursue a master's degree at West Virginia University.

She is a lifelong member of the Hambleton United Methodist Church in Hambleton. Her hobbies include playing piano and reading.

Barton and other Forest Festival princesses are set to take part in the coronation ceremony today at D&E College.
