The public is invited to meet the candidates for the November election at an open forum scheduled to begin promptly at 7 p.m. on today in the auditorium of Philip Barbour High School.
The event is sponsored by the Barbour County Chamber of Commerce and the Barbour County Senior Center. Light refreshments will be offered to early arrivals.
Invitations have been mailed to all candidates who appear on the Barbour County ballot, from the canidates to U.S. Senate and the Congress, to the candidates for governor and other state races, on to the county ticket, including the candidates for county commissioner, sheriff, assessor, prosecuting attorney, and the state House of Delegates. The list covers invitations only - it is too early to gauge the response at this time.
Mike Cvechko will serve as the moderator for today’s meet the candidates forum at Philip Barbour High School.
Candidates will make brief self-introductions and will answer questions put to them by other candidates and by the audience, according to the limits announced in advance.
Chamber Past President and Allegheny Insurance executive Mike Cvechko will serve as the moderator, a familiar post once popularly held by the late Mike Hudnell.
Questions from the audience will be written on prepared sheets, signed by the writer, and reviewed by the moderator for content and repetition. The order of presentations will be determined by lot for each category.
No reservations are required. The public is requested to be in their seats by 7 p.m. when the program will begin on time. Questions may be referred to the Chamber office at 457-1958.
