Alexis Ayers, a fifth-grade student at Jennings Randolph Elementary School in Elkins, was selected as the runner-up for Woodly the Elf during the 76th Mountain State Forest Festival.
This was the second year in a row that Ayers earned runner-up in the contest, which is open to all students in third, fourth and fifth grades who attend an Elkins school, including children who are home schooled. Each student is charged with creating a poster that depicts Woodly participating in Forest Festival events.
Ayers is the daughter of Kyle and Heather Ayers.
