Mr. Howard N. Sproul, 68, a resident of Elkins, passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, in Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.
He was born July 11, 1944, at Baltimore, Md., a son of the late Leroy Sproul and the late Florence Howard Block.
He was married to Sharon N. Sproul, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son, Scott Sproul and wife, Jessica, of Elkins; and two daughters, Stephanie Sproul of Raleigh, N.C., and Nikki Sproul of Baltimore, Md. One brother, Calvin Sproul; and one sister, Elaine Bushman, both of Baltimore, Md.; and grandchildren, Samantha, Andrew, Brooke and Ryan also survive.
Howard was a veteran of the United States Army from where he retired. He was a member of Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars and attended St. Brendan Catholic Church.
Mr. Sproul's remains were cremated. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, at St. Brendan Catholic Church. The Very Rev. Donald X. Higgs will be the celebrant.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 122 S. High St., Morgantown, WV 26501, in memory of Mr. Sproul. Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for Mr. Howard N. Sproul.
