The Elkins-Randolph County Chamber of Commerce will partner with the Old Brick Playhouse to host an Excellence in Customer Service Workshop, which will be open to the public Oct. 29.
"We're looking forward to this unique training offered to businesses before thousands of tourists arrive to the area to take in the holiday events," said Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Kate Reed. "We are fortunate to be working with the professional staff of the Old Brick Playhouse as they will be acting out different scenarios to replicate business situations and demonstrate how to deliver outstanding customer service. Other workshops of this caliber are usually offered at $300 a person and we are able to provide it for only $20."
Project STEER (Striving Toward Excellent Employee Rapport) was developed by Old Brick Playhouse Executive Director Missy Armentrout McCollum and her team. Participants of this workshop will learn various skills through role play, including: how to communicate a positive attitude, make sure customers feel important and appreciated, never meet a stranger, anticipate customer's needs and ways to help them, learn to watch for nonverbal cues, be a good listener, value each customer as equally important, take pride in community/workplace, work with difficult customers and leave customers with exceeded expectations.
Two workshops are set for Oct. 29 at the Old Brick Playhouse on Davis Avenue in Elkins. One will be tailored to managers from noon to 3 p.m., and an employee-focused workshop is set for 5 to 8 p.m. Carol Carter, chairperson of the department of business and entrepreneurship, will be the moderator for this event.
Space is limited, so preregistration is requested. Chamber members and ON TRAC committee/board members can secure a spot for $20, and nonmembers will be charged $25.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided, thanks to sponsors Davis Health Systems and The Inter-Mountain. Registration is available online at www.erccc.com.
