Local church plans anniversary

The Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church, at 113 First St. in Elkins, is celebrating 100 years of worship with many activities this weekend.

The Rev. Bill Calhoun, minister of the Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church, said the congregation will offer several activities and services, featuring worship, singing, visits with former ministers, a rededication service and a pictorial history of the church.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, the church will feature a special musical evening featuring past ministers speaking of their memories of the church, Calhoun said. At 10 a.m. Sunday, the Rev. Joe Westfall and the Rev. Dr. Dan Hogan will speak.

The Woodford Memorial United Methodist Church will host a range of activities this weekend in celebration of its 100th anniversary.

Some of the music guests include the Clark Family Quartet, the Lanham Family, Jon and Harold Langevin, Cheryl and Kristy Given and Melody Meadows.
