Buckhannon-Upshur defeated Elkins 1-0 Saturday to capture the Class AAA, Region II, Section 2 title .
Trey Short scored the game's lone goal, connecting on a combo from Marty Elliot in the game's 62nd minute.
"The best thing we did today was stay patient and not give up on our attack," B-U coach Mike Donato said.

"Elkins defended us very strong up the middle, so we had to keep playing the ball out to our wings."
The Bucs led in shots on goal 6-2, but Elkins won the corner kick stat, earning a total of five compared to only two for the Bucs. The physical contest included 22 total fouls, 13 for Elkins and nine for B-U.
B-U goalkeeper Chris Orwig collected two saves in recording the shutout.
The Bucs (14-8) will play in the regional final Thursday at home.
B-U 1, Hampshire 0
Buckhannon-Upshur's girls captured the Class AAA, Region II, Section 2 title Saturday with a 1-0 win over Hampshire.
Brooklyn Waddell scored the game's lone goal, finding the net in the 26th minute off an assist from Emily Godwin.
"It's nice to get over the sectional hump," B-U coach Tom Hasbrouck said. "We have struggled with this the past three years, but we were able to hang on today."
B-U outshot Hampshire 15-2, and led the corner kick tally 10-0. Kelsey Hinzman had two saves in goal for the Lady Bucs, while Trojan keeper Tori Veach collected 14.
The game was marred in the second half due to a fight, which was broken up by other players and the head official.
B-U (21-1) will host Washington at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in the regional final.
