Christmas Angels group seeks support

October 26, 2012
By Beth Christian Broschart - Staff Writer , The Inter-Mountain

The Elkins Salvation Army is looking for groups, clubs, workplaces, organizations or families willing to adopt families for Christmas.

The Christmas Angels will be placed on trees beginning Nov. 15, but this request offers the opportunity for people to adopt all the children in need in one family.

"The children appreciate the gifts they receive from the angel trees," said Pauline Gower of the Salvation Army in Elkins. "This gives groups the opportunity to help children in the same family."

Gower said when someone adopts a child from the angel tree, he or she does not know how many children are in one family. Sometimes one child in a family could get a bicycle, while a sibling will get a matchbox car. He said groups adopting all the children in one family helps keep gifts more equal.

Anyone interested in adopting a family should call the Salvation Army at 304-637-1173 or Lora Hedrick at 304-614-4584.
