Protected pedestrian crossings are the newest addition to the All Veteran’s Memorial intersection in Elkins. Bill Little, left, from Mason, and Curt Waugh from Crown City, Ohio, work this week to move the curb cuts and add ramps that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act at each of the corners. Mike Moran, district engineer with the West Virginia Division of Highways, said the signal loops in the ground, which detect traffic and determine when the lights change, have been replaced with video detection equipment.
