Mr. Robert "Bob" Holley 70, a resident of Philippi, departed this life 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness.
He was born April 2, 1942, at Maidsville, a son of the late Earl C. Holley and Virginia P. (Lantz) Holley.
On Dec. 21, 1963, he was united in marriage to the former Sharon Joyce Ketchem.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherry D. Booth and husband, Paul, and Deborah K. Holley, both of Philippi; two sisters, Joan Glaspell and Betty Hoy and husband, Ed, both of Boothsville; and three brothers Ray Corder of Wana, Earl Holley and wife, Erm, of Buckhannon and Wilbert Holley and Lucille of Fairmont. He also is survived by four grandchildren, Wesley T. Bell, Sarah N. Booth, Jordan R. Holley and Travis S. Booth; and one great-grandchild, Hayden M. Bell, all of Philippi.
Mr. Holley retired in 2006 as a heavy equipment operator having worked for various employers throughout his career and was a Methodist by faith. Mr. Holley honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington from 3 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, and again Sunday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., the funeral hour when final rites will be conducted from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bryan Headley officiating. Interment will follow in the Booth Family Cemetery near Philippi where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 96 of Belington and Post 44 of Philippi.
