Alderson-Broaddus College is proud to honor the Rev. Richard McDonald, pastor of Beulah Baptist Church, with the 2012 Ward W. Hibbs Ministerial Award.

A-B President Richard Creehan presented the award at the West Virginia Baptist Convention on Oct. 18 in Huntington.

This award is given annually by Alderson-Broaddus College in memory of the ministry of the Rev. Dr. Ward W. Hibbs. This award is presented to an American Baptist minister who has made outstanding contribution to the ministry of town and country churches.

McDonald is a graduate of Moody Bible College and Fairmont State College, and has pastored many American Baptist Churches since 1966.

He has been pastor of Beulah Baptist Church in Pruntytown since 1984. During those 28 years, church attendance has risen from 45 to nearly 240. The church has seen more than 160 baptized into the church, and many coming by transfer of letter. To accommodate this growth, the church has built a new annex and baptismal, and remodeled the sanctuary.

It also has built new parking lots, a new activity building and Sunday School classrooms.

The church maintains a strong community presence with fundraising for the needy, work at the mission, nursing home services and an AWANA outreach for the youth.

McDonald is a bi-vocational minister and is vice president of Stuart-McMunn Company of Clarksburg, where he has worked for 46 years.
