Luvary Ray

Ms. Luvary Jane Lambert Ray, 92, a resident of Belington and formerly of Elkins, departed this life early Sunday morning, Oct. 28, 2012, at the residence of her daughters, Linda Rogers and Joan Pifer. She had been in declining health for the past two years.

She was born May 26, 1920, at Wymer, a daughter of the late George W. and Fannie M. Sponaugle Lambert.

On Nov. 5, 1938, she was united in marriage to the late Virgil Ray, who preceded her in death Sept. 2000.

She is survived by 10 children, Jack Ray and wife, Betty, of Elkins, Curlie Ray of Kelly Mountain, Milton Ray of Elkins, Dale Ray of Glady, Lenzie Ray and wife, Jean, of Wymer, Jake Ray of Wymer, Joan Pifer of Belington, Linda Rogers of Belington, Miriam McCauley and husband, Dennis, of Montrose and Gregory Ray and companion, Jenny Dumire, of Belington. Also surviving are siblings, Hersel Lambert and wife, Marion, of New York, and Kathryn Stimmel and husband, James, of Morgantown; 23 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her twin brother, Charlie Lambert, and other brothers, including Lynzie, Curlin, Harvey, Vernard and and Tracy Lambert; and sisters, including Jean Ryan, Brysie Hartman and Lenetta Kanutti.

Ms. Ray was a homemaker, attended the schools of Randolph County and was a Mennonite by faith. Luvary will be remembered for her love of gardening, raising poultry and conversing with friends on the telephone. She was well loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Friends will be received from Tygart Valley Ministry and Christian Academy in Beverly from 5 to 9 p.m. today and Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m., the funeral hour when services will be conducted from the church with Pastor Curlie Ray Sr. and Curlie Ray Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Lambert Cemetery at Wymer.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Belington Emergency Squad, P.O. Box 922, Belington, WV 26250.
