Mr. Robert James Westfall, 34, a resident of Belington, departed this life Wednesday Oct. 31, 2012, at his residence. Death was sudden and unexpected.
He was born Sept. 28, 1978, at Elkins, a son of Delores Jean McCoy and Emmett James Fowler.
He is survived by his fiance, Shirley Dawn Collins of Belington and eight children, Ethen, Paydon, Connar, Damien, Caleb, Makayla, Haley and Bryanna Westfall; two sisters, Jessica Bressler and husband, Russell, of Junior and Christina Wray of Huntington; grandparents surviving are his maternal grandparents, James and Phyllis Westfall of Ohio, Lillian and Leon Sliter of Ohio, and paternal grandmother, Marlone Champ of Philippi.
Additional survivors include several aunts, Debora Vest and husband, John, of Belington, Mary Bibey and husband, Donald, of Belington, Kim Richardson of Philippi, Julie Nelson and husband, Charles, of Belington, Mellissa Leggett of Missouri, and several uncles, James Westfall Jr. and wife, Renee, of Elkins, Aaron Fowler and, Lana, of Belington, Dave Leggett of Elkins, Chris Leggett and wife, Stephanie, of Rock Cave and Benji Champ of Belington. Several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins also survive.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, William Leggett, and uncle, Harold Westfall.
Mr. Westfall attended the schools of Barbour County. He was a former coal miner and served on the mine rescue squad. He was presently employed by Brian's Custom Cuts and was a protestant by faith.
Friends will be received at Talbott Funeral Home in Belington on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, from 3 to 8 p.m., until the funeral hour at 8 p.m. at which time here will be a brief memorial service with the Rev. Downing Gregory officiating. Cremation to follow.
