The Tygarts Valley and Moorefield game that was scheduled to take place this past Friday went down as a no-contest decision.
"With the storm that we had and with no power throughout the area, we just couldn't get the game in," Tygarts Valley coach Joseph Arbogast said. "After talking to the other coaches and our athletic director and principal, we all agreed this was the right decision.
"We just couldn't get the word out to all of the kids because they didn't have any power or were snowed in."
"After talking with the Tygarts Valley officials, I totally agree we made the right choice," Moorefield coach Josh See added. "We knew what they were going through and with the storm that hit, it was just impossible for them to get their kids ready."
Tygarts Valley finished its season with an 1-8 record.
"We knew the kids wanted to play," Arbogast said. "But with the storm we just couldn't. We also haven't practiced all week or played since last Friday and we just didn't want to get any kids hurt."
Moorefield finished the regular season with a 5-4 record and will play top- seed Tucker County in the first round of the Class A playoffs.
"There are no hard feelings in this situation," See said. "We are looking forward to playing them next year at our place."
