Mr. Richard Lee "Cub" Ball Sr., 86, a resident of Elkins, passed away Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, in Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 27, 1926, at Elkins, a son of the late Odbert and Evelyn Isner Ball.
He was married to Charlotte Shea Ball, who preceded him in death Dec. 3, 1993.
Surviving are one son, Richard Lee Ball Jr. of Beckley; one daughter, Andrea Sue Leonard of Clarion, Pa.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Also preceding him in death were one son, Michael Lee Ball; and one sister, Maxine Sheaves.
Mr. Ball attended the schools of Randolph County and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War II and serving in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was later employed as a coal miner and was employed by the Western Maryland Railroad prior to his retirement. He was a life member of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and a life member of Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
At the request of the deceased, his remains were cremated. Interment will follow at a later date in Mountain State Memorial Gardens near Gilman.
