Frank Bell "Bo" Ikirt, 66, of Peterstown, passed away Friday, Nov. 9, 2012, at his home.

Born July 24, 1946, at Elkins, he was the son of Gladys Marie Bell Perotti and the late Dr. Frank A. Ikirt.

Bo received his prelaw degree from Arizona State University and his Bachelor and Master of Criminal Justice from Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla.

He had 26 years of active military and civilian service with the Department of Defense with all military services including, U.S. Navy NIS and USAF OSI and held several positions within the two branches including: police officer/investigator, contracting and training officer, jet engine training instructor, housing inspector, safety officer, resource officer for Defense Language Institute and procurement officer.

His training included the U.S. Navy Police Academy and the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., San Diego Federal Police Academy in San Diego, Calif., U.S. Air Force Jet Engines Mechanics Advanced Course, Chanute AFB, Ill., and the U.S. Air Force Instructors Training Course, Chanute AFB, Ill.. While in the U.S. Navy, he was serving on the USS Chipola in the seven, 1962 Atomic Testings near Christmas Tree Island and Johnston Island and also served on the USS Chipola from 1963-1967 including three tours to Vietnam.

Bo was a member of the Masonic Latham Lodge 12 in Austel, Ga., since 1968, Sabar Shrine Tempel in Tucson, Ariz. since 1974, the American Legion in Tombstone, Ariz. since 1973 and the Hardee's Boys in Pearisburg, Va. since 2005.

He was also a member of the Mill Creek Presbyterian Church in Mill Creek.

Bo was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Joseph Perotti; and grandparents Hettie B. and Thamer J. Bell.

In addition to his mother, survivors include, the love of his life whom he married in 1967, Judy Lorraine White Ikirt, Lt. Col (Ret) USAF NC, CRNA, MSN; two daughters, Heather Marie Ikirt and husband, David Morrison, of Creedmoor, N.C., and Heidi Samil and husband, Enrique, of Mexia, Texas; five grandchildren, Brianna Bell and Aidan Day Morrison and Madison "Mattie" Jedial, Zechariah Daniel and Zoe' Abigail Rayne Crosby; four brothers, Randy Ikirt, Jeff Ikirt and wife, Brenda, and Mark Ikirt, all of Tombstone, Ariz., and Steve Ikirt and wife, Debbie, of Fairfax, Va.; and two maternal aunts, Virginia Tiano of Cleveland, Ohio, and Nana Mae Carpenter and husband, Bill, of Elkins.

Bo's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service celebrating his life will be conducted at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, at Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home Chapel followed with military rites by Pembroke 311, Narrows Veterans of Foreign Wars 6000, Narrows 68 and Peterstown Rowe Jones 145. Family and friends are welcome one hour prior to the services to share and remember Bo's life.
