Green Arbogast

Green Arbogast, 85, a resident of Durbin, passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012, in Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins.

Born May 8, 1927, at Thornwood, he was a son of the late Dixie and Annie Vandevander Arbogast.

He loved spending time with his kids, grandkids, great-grandchildren and other family members. He attended Frank Nazarene Church and Durbin Church of the Brethren and was a Christian man. He had a great love for God and family and loved West Virginia University, hunting and fishing. He worked hard his entire life and retired from Howe's Leather Co. after 31 years of service.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Laura M. Arbogast; an infant grandson, Cody L. Tacy; sisters, Joann Currence, Judith and Betty; and brothers, Denver, Vere, Henry, Harvey, David, Lonnie and Arnold Arbogast.

On May 16, 1947, at Monterey, Va., he married Dorothy Ryder, who passed in 2010 after 63 years of marriage.

Surviving are five sons, James E. Arbogast and fiancee, Betsy, of Durbin, Garry L. Arbogast and wife, Millie, of Durbin, Lewis R. Arbogast and wife, Diana, of Bartow, Thomas A. Arbogast and friend, Sandy, of Durbin and Glenn W. Arbogast and wife, Pam, of Durbin; three daughters, Linda K. Arbogast of Elkins, Diana L. Matheny and husband, Larry, of Hurricane and Carol M. Tacy and husband, Randy, of Elkins; a special son, Kenny Arbogast and wife, Barb, of Martinsburg; grandchildren, Beth Vandevander, Lewis Ray Arbogast II, Michael Arbogast, Davey Carr, Tammy North, Jennifer Matheny, Eric Matheny, Erica Smith, Thomas Arbogast II, Stephanie Murray and Andy Arbogast.; great-grandchildren, Paige, Kurt, Elizabeth, Sally, Jacob, David, Crystal, Hunter, Collin, Evan, Madison, Sophia, MaKayla, Tyler, Brandon, Kayley, Matthew, Brayden, Dorothy and Joey; a sister, Maxine Cromer of Durbin; two brothers, Paul Arbogast and Dan Arbogast and wife, Linda, all of Durbin; and special nieces, Barbara Gillispie and Nellie "Sis" Young.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Arbovale with the Rev. Donnie Curry and the Rev. David Rittenhouse. Interment will follow in Arbovale Cemetery Annex. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home in Arbovale.
