The candidate list for the 2013 Elkins municipal election is set with three people vying for the mayor's office and two of the city's five wards seeing contested races.

Incumbent Mayor Duke Talbott will face two challengers in Councilmen Van Broughton, 2nd Ward, and Mark Scott, 3rd Ward.

Talbott will be seeking his third term as mayor. If Scott or Broughton win the race, their seats on council will have to be filled.

In 1st Ward, incumbent Councilman Charles Kinnison will face volunteer firefighter Lonnie Randall.

In 4th Ward, incumbent Councilwoman Nanci Bross-Fregonara will face resident Hollis Vance.

In 2nd Ward, resident Mitch Marstiller has filed to run for the seat. Incumbent Councilman Tom Hensil will not seek re-election.

Incumbent council members Carman Metheny, 3rd Ward; Jim Bibey, 5th Ward; and Joe Sabatino, 5th Ward, have all filed to retain their seats.

Two seats are available in 5th Ward, because Sabatino was appointed to the seat after former Councilman Danny Satterfield resigned. Sabatino has filed to fill the unexpired term that would have been up for grabs in 2015. Bibey will be running for a full four-year term.

City Clerk Sutton Stokes said no filings were received by mail and the current list should be final. Stokes said the city is also looking for people to serve as poll workers.

"Anyone interested in being a poll worker should contact me," he said.

Stokes can be reached by calling 304-636-1414 ext. 1211 or by emailing
