Elkins and six other high school swim teams will make a splash in the renovated pool at Davis &?Elkins College.
The Autumn Invitational, set for noon today at the pool, is the first high school event since a new roof was placed over the facility.
Along with Elkins, Buckhannon-Upshur, Philip Barbour, North Marion, Preston, East Fairmont and Lincoln will compete in the event.
"We're excited to be back in the pool," Elkins coach Jean Schmidt said. "I also want to thank Sid Gillespie for letting us use the YMCA to practice."
The EHS girls return four swimmers who qualified for the state meet last season. They include Delaney Johnson, Kayla Gainer, Lauren Cain and Samantha Hall.
Newcomers include Tenny DeMarco, Kathryn Mattingly, Skout Barger, Abby Fincham, Amy Fincham, Kaylynne Goins, Tayler Lee and Tori Taylor.
"We return an experienced group of girls from last season, so we're expecting good things from them this year," Schmidt said.
"We have a lot of new girls this year that should make an immediate impact.
"This is the deepest team we've had on the girls side in a long time."
Robert Hall, Tyler Kenney and Brian Cox are holdovers for the EHS boys. Brendan Cain and Mason Ariola are among the newcomers.
"We expect big things from (our returning swimmers)," Schmidt said. "We think Brendan Cain will have a big year for us."
B-U veteran swimmers include Matthew Bellamy and Seth Blake, along with Maggie Miller and Caroline Nanners.
Abigail Blankenship and Quentin Mouser are swimmers to watch for Philip Barbour.
